Our Vision
To be an Acts 29 New Testament Church in Jacksonville NC
(Obeying Christ’s Great Calling results in a life of service to others) Mark 10:42-45
The book of Acts concludes with these words about the Apostle Paul:“Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ” (Acts 28:31). As we obey God in fulfilling His Great Commission, and the biblical functions of worship, discipleship, evangelism, ministry, and fellowship; the family of faith at Centerview will grow spiritually and numerically, ministries will expand, and the cause of Christ will be advanced.
Our Motives
We pray that the motive for all that we do will be to glorify God. “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31).
Christ came that we might have life more abundantly (John 10:10b). As His church, His mission in coming to earth has now become our mission. We want to bring glory to God by:
Knowing Christ personally“Thus says the LORD: Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me” |
Growing in Christ’s likeness“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen” (2 Peter 3:18). |
Showing Christ to others“By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples… You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you” (John 15:8, 16). |
Our Statement of Faith
About The Bible The Bible is the inspired inerrant Word of God. As such, it is the authoritative standard by which we judge our conduct, beliefs, and opinions.
About God God is the creator of all things. He exists in three distinct persons, equal in deity, unified in substance. In all things, He is sovereign, holy, and good.
About Jesus Christ Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a perfect sinless life, died an atoning death on the cross, was bodily resurrected, ascended into heaven, and will return in power and glory to judge the world and finish His redemptive mission on Earth.
|
About Sin God created mankind, with an immortal soul and moral choice. By his free choice, Adam – the first man, sinned against God and brought sin and death to the entire human race.
About Salvation Convicted and drawn by the Holy Spirit, genuine saving faith occurs when in response to the Holy Spirit, a person repents of their sin and places their faith in the saving work of Jesus Christ. Faith begins with repentance, leads to a life of obedience, and culminates in eternal fellowship with God.
About the Christian Life At the moment of salvation, a believer is permanently indwelled by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit enables every believer to live a life fully consecrated to God, led by the Spirit, and becoming progressively more like Christ. |
